Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) are ingrained into the lifeblood of American history, an integral part of American culture, and part of the beating heart that moves America toward a better tomorrow.
Since 2020, Read Nation has been involved in the fight against AAPI discrimination, hate, and under representation. Our advocacy efforts included petitioning for the inclusion of AAPI history in school curriculum so that the next generation of AAPI students in America could have the opportunity to learn about their rich, colorful and extensive heritage.
On May 26, 2022, NYC Mayor Eric Adams and Education Chancellor David Banks announced that AAPI history would be taught beginning in NYC public schools in a pilot program beginning September 2022.
Our fight does not and cannot stop here. Read Nation organizes fundraising efforts to raise money for the purchase of AAPI books to donate to local schools and libraries.
